Honestly, this was a long time coming. I can't accurately gauge how many people (if any) besides myself use QuidWriter (formerly QuidProQuo), but it doesn't really matter.
I first started writing QuidProQuo nearly five years ago, right before lockdown happened. It boggles my mind that it's been that long. It was initially... not a particularly great piece of software, but as a 13-year-old, I was proud of it; along with SteelHelix, QuidProQuo was one of the first pieces of software I wrote in Visual Basic. Nowadays, as a far more experienced developer and enthusiast, I feel as though it's time to close the door on QuidWriter. I've had such a litany of ideas in my head for its successor, as well as for a fully realized Scratchware suite, to the point where I want to start anew.
Version 4.0.0 will be the final release of QuidWriter. It'll remain available to download for every release of Windows from XP through 11, and it can still be configured rather easily using Wine on both macOS and Linux (I've gotten it going successfully, with full functionality, on both OSes).
This also does provide a good time for me to mention: please understand that Windows XP support going forward will not be as great of a priority. Windows XP is still my absolute favorite version of Windows, and if it had support for modern gaming, I'd use it as my daily driver. However, I'm going to be experimenting with different cross-platform frameworks and languages, most of which are far and away too modern for XP, and truth be told, I'd rather have native Mac and Linux support in my software than support for XP.
Stay gold.
